Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine providers offer care for babies with challenges due to premature birth, severe illness, or a congenital anomaly in North Carolina Children’s Hospital’s Newborn Critical Care Center (NCCC). Following discharge, many patients are evaluated in the Special Infant Care Clinic (SICC), a specialty outpatient clinic staffed by Neonatal-Perinatal providers and designed to promote the best developmental outcomes for these children. Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine is extensively involved in ongoing clinical research with the goal of improving care delivered to critically ill newborns throughout the nation and around the world.

  Lee and Segal Receive 2025 Cefalo Awards

  Congratulations to Dr. Amalia Lee, a fellow in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and Dr. Lilly Segal, a Primary Care Pediatric resident – two of the 2025 Robert C. Cefalo Annual House Officer Award winners. These outstanding members of ºÚÁÏÍø Hospitals’ house staff are recognized for their exemplary service, professional performance and compassionate patient care.

• Misty Good, MD, MS, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Division Chief of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and Co-Director of Carolina Child Health Scholars Program is one of three researchers named a Yang Family Biomedical Scholar in the eighth installment of this annual School of Medicine award.

  Good Accepted as New Fellow in ELAM Program

  We are pleased to announce that Dr. Misty Good has been accepted as a Fellow in the 2024 -2025 Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine® (ELAM) program at Drexel University College of Medicine.

• An international cost-effectiveness study, led by researchers at the ºÚÁÏÍø and the Kinshasa School of Public Health, has found that an effective antibiotic used to combat maternal sepsis vastly reduces health-care costs for pregnant patients.
