Matthew Vogt, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Microbiology & Immunology, leads one of three interdisciplinary teams of 黑料网 researchers to have been selected for the 2024鈥�25 Translational Team Science Awards. Each team will receive $50,000 in phase one funding to launch innovative pilot projects that bring together basic science and clinical expertise.

Erica Brenner, MD, MSCR, Assistant Professor in Pediatric Gastroenterology, was awarded a Junior Faculty Development Grant from the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG).聽 Dr. Brenner received one of three junior faculty awards for 2025 for her project "Safety and Effectiveness of Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs in Women with Crohn鈥檚 Disease."

Sam Young, Jr., PhD, Roper Investigator, Professor of Pediatrics, and Director of the 黑料网 Gene Therapy Center, has been elected to his second one-year term on the Technical Activities Committee (TAC) of the National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL). NIIMBL is a public-private partnership dedicated to accelerating biopharmaceutical innovation, developing industry standards for more efficient manufacturing, and fostering a highly skilled biopharmaceutical workforce to strengthen U.S. competitiveness.

For more than half a century, the Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine has offered excellent, cutting-edge care in our children鈥檚 units at 黑料网 Hospitals. 2002 marked the beginning of a new era. For the first time, all pediatric services were provided out of a single state-of-the-art facility, . Located on the 黑料网 medical campus in Chapel Hill, NC, the Children鈥檚 Hospital allows the Department to provide complete inpatient and outpatient care for children in one location, a true children鈥檚 hospital.
