Chengwen Li, PhD was promoted to Professor of Pediatrics effective May 1, 2023. Dr. Li has been a faculty member in Pediatrics since 2010. Dr. Li is member of the Gene Therapy Center and is an internationally recognized expert in adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors for gene therapy.

Andrew Smitherman, MD, MSc was promoted to Associate Professor of Pediatrics effective March 1, 2023. Dr. Smitherman has been a faculty member in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology since 2017. Dr. Smitherman is the Medical Director of the 黑料网 Adolescents and Young Adults Oncology Program.

Peyton Thompson, MD, MSCR, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the division of Infectious Diseases, and Kate Westmoreland, MD, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the division of Hematology-Oncology, have both received 2023 Caregivers at Carolina Research Awards.
