Dalia Fleifel, a graduate student leader, has been awarded the 2025 Lineberger Graduate Fellow Award in Basic Science. This accolade was presented at the annual trainee awards ceremony on May 21st.

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) has announced that Dalia Tarek Fleifel has been awarded the prestigious AACR聽Scholar-in-Training Award. This recognition is based on the quality of her award application and her abstract titled 鈥淯nraveling c-MYC role in DNA replication origin licensing through non-canonical pathways.

Graduate students Dalia Tarek Fleifel (Cook lab) and Humeyra Kaanoglu (Sancar Lab) presented their research posters at聽the聽American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) annual meeting in Chicago during the week of聽April 25-30, 2025.

Dr. Nikea Pittman was honored as a recipient of the Microbiology Society鈥檚 inaugural Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion award. During the opening ceremony in Liverpool, UK, Dr. Pittman co-presented the Prize Lecture along with Drs. Donovan-Banfield and Taylor on behalf of Black Microbiologists Association.
