While this tool is easy to implement and can act as a simple redirect to content, we strongly recommend avoiding this practice to &#8220;patch&#8221; or &#8220;fix&#8221; old URLs or links that have broken.<\/p>\n<h2>Create the Link<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Ensure the <strong>Page Links To<\/strong> plugin is enabled.\n<ul>\n<li>Click on the\u00a0<strong>Plugins<\/strong>\u00a0link in the <strong>dashboard<\/strong>. \u00a0You will be taken to a page that lists all the available plugins.<\/li>\n<li>Find the listing for the <strong>Page Links To<\/strong> plugin and click the <strong>Activate<\/strong> link under the plugin name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Add a <strong>new page<\/strong> to your site.\n<ul>\n<li>Add a <strong>Title<\/strong> &#8211; this will be the link text<\/li>\n<li>Scroll to the bottom of the page to the <strong>Page Links To<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n<li>Select the radio button next to <strong>A custom URL<\/strong> option.<\/li>\n<li>Add the URL of the link<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Publish<\/strong> the page<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Add the Link to the Primary Navigation<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>In you site&#8217;s dashboard, go to <strong>Appearance &gt; Menus<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure you are editing your <strong>Primary Navigation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Under <strong>Pages<\/strong>, add a check next to the page you just created (see instructions above).<\/li>\n<li>In the example below I created a page titled <strong>ºÚÁÏÍø<\/strong> that will link to main campus.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6443\" src=\"\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/webguide\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/419\/2017\/09\/AddExternalLink-300x183.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"489\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/webguide\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/419\/2017\/09\/AddExternalLink-300x183.png 300w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/webguide\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/419\/2017\/09\/AddExternalLink-1024x626.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/webguide\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/419\/2017\/09\/AddExternalLink-768x470.png 768w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/webguide\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/419\/2017\/09\/AddExternalLink-1536x939.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/webguide\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/419\/2017\/09\/AddExternalLink-2048x1252.png 2048w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/webguide\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/419\/2017\/09\/AddExternalLink-600x367.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Add to Menu<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<li>The new nav link\u00a0will automatically get added to the bottom of the navigation list. \u00a0Drag and drop it to reorder the site navigation as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Click the green <strong>Save Menu<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Page Links To plugin allows you to add external links to your site&#8217;s primary\/horizontal navigation.
