Overview

The ºÚÁÏÍø Department of Urology offers a one-year Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship designed to provide comprehensive clinical and didactic training in urologic care. Open to new graduate Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs), this fellowship aims to bridge the gap between general education and specialized urologic practice, preparing APPs to deliver high-quality patient-centered urologic care.

The program is aligned with ºÚÁÏ꿉۪s mission to expand access to healthcare across North Carolina, support APP professional development, and foster excellence in patient outcomes.

Why an APP Urology Fellowship?

Urology encompasses a wide range of surgical and medical conditions affecting the urinary tract as well as the male and female reproductive systems. With an ongoing shortage of urologists nationwide and an aging urology workforce, APPs play a critical role in helping to maintain access to high-quality care, both now and for the future.

Supported by the American Urological Association (AUA) and national recommendations, the ºÚÁÏÍø Urology APP Fellowship will equip fellows with:

  • Structured didactic education
  • Intensive clinical exposure
  • Core competency development modeled after ACGME and AUA guidelines
  • Hands-on procedural and surgical experiences
