Laurel Kartchner, a graduate student in Dr. Bruce Cairns’ lab, will receive the Graduate Student Mentoring Award (GSMA) for her excellent work with her undergraduate mentee. The GSMA was established to recognize and encourage mentoring of undergraduates by graduate students. The Office for Undergraduate Research values the support, motivation and perspective that graduate students bring to the undergraduate’s understanding of the researcher experience and the offerings of the university.

Laurel will receive this award at 5 PM on Tuesday, September 24, during The Office for Undergraduate Research’s fall reception to be held at the Art Gallery, Main Floor, Frank Porter Graham Student Union.
