Surgery Faculty to Lead ASSET Course
The ºÚÁÏÍø is offering a 1-day (8:30am-4:00pm) Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma (ASSET) Course designed for PGY4 & 5 residents and regional trauma & general surgery physicians to provide vascular exposure in penetrating trauma. The course will allow participants to learn about the key surgical exposures in five key anatomic areas: neck, chest, abdomen & pelvis, and upper and lower extremities.
Target Audience
PGY4 & 5 residents and regional trauma & general surgery physicians
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, the participant should be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of key anatomical exposures for the care of injured and acutely ill surgical patients.
- Demonstrate his or her technical ability to expose important structures that may require acute surgical intervention to save life or limb.
- Gain confidence in performing anatomic exposures independently.
- Faculty assessment of a student’s ability to independently perform anatomical exposures will be satisfactory.
