Menopause Consultation and Therapy ClinicÌý

Our goal is to support women and their providers who are seeking further understanding of whether the hormonal changes of menopause may be playing a role in their current symptoms and to discuss treatment options.ÌýÌý

We provide specialized psychiatric consultations which includes a reproductive and psychiatric evaluation as well as discussion of recommendations for the management of hormonally associated mood and anxiety symptoms. Brief psychotherapy services utilizing behavioral approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and behavioral activation are also offered and may be discussed during the initial consultation. In addition to our services within psychiatry, we also work closely with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.ÌýÌý

Interested patients can call (984) 974-5217 to schedule a consultation. Ìý

‘Bring on the Heat: Charting a Course through Perimenopause Based on the Latest Science’ is a menopause talk series hosted by researchers and clinicians at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The hosts of this seminar come from a variety of backgrounds including psychiatry, gynecology, exercise science, nutrition, and nursing. Each session will include presentations from these experts, discussions, and interactive activities. Topics focus on the signs and symptoms of perimenopause such as mood, anxiety, physical and sexual health, cardiovascular risk, cognition, and body changes. Resources on evidence-based preventions and treatments will be provided.Ìý

This series will provide a space for the exchange of information and open communication among researchers, perimenopausal people, and the broader community.  The information shared will be relevant to perimenopausal people, including women, nonbinary folks, and trans-men with intact ovaries. Through this series, we hope to bring awareness and education to those experiencing symptoms related to menopause.Ìý

We are grateful to the Carolina Seminar Series for supporting this project.Ìý
