About
Dr. Penaskovic was named the interim Chair of Psychiatry in March 2025. Before this role, he served as the department’s Vice-Chair of Clinical Affairs and the Medical School’s Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. As a clinician, Dr. Penaskovic worked as the medical director for the inpatient psychotic disorder unit and in the outpatient resident clinic. In medical student teaching, he has held roles as both a pre-clinical course director and clerkship director, earning awards at both local and national levels.
As an administrator, Dr. Penaskovic has been actively involved in expanding several clinical services. This includes designing the psychiatry coordination team, launching the telepsychiatry intensive outpatient initiative, and contributing to the department’s telepsychiatry inpatient management service. He is passionate about expanding psychiatric services throughout the state and fostering the career development of medical students.
