Optical Imaging
The Preclinical Research Unit (PRU) maintains a听new (2019)听IVIS Lumina听III Series听optical imager within our听immune-compromised mouse barrier suite.听This system is only for use with听studies under the direct care of the PRU to avoid any chance of pathogen transfer from听immune-competent mice.听
- 2D optical imaging (bioluminescence听and听fluorescence)
- Images up to 5 mice simultaneously
- Heated sample stage to maintain听homeostasis
- Utilizes isoflurane anesthesia听for quick recovery
- Imaging cost is $99.00 per hour, charged in half hour increments

The Biomedical Research Imaging Center (BRIC) maintains multiple听辞辫迟颈肠补濒听imagers on campus as part of the Small Animal Imaging Facility (SAI).听The SAI maintains an IVIS-Lumina, IVIS-Kinetic and an Ami Imager.听

PRU technicians听can assist with your imaging needs on any available听辞辫迟颈肠补濒听imager.听We are acutely aware of all transport and use guidelines for听use of all imagers on campus. We have听completed all required training and have many听years鈥� experience听utilizing IVIS systems.听听
Luciferin is essential for performing bioluminescent imaging. The PRU purchases XenoLight D-Luciferin听鈥� K+ Salt Substrate from Perkin Elmer for use in imaging studies.听We can provide prepared luciferin to your group or use it for your studies.听There is a per ml fee charged for all luciferin听utilized.听We can also assist with听bioluminescent studies requiring听NanoLuc luciferase听and fluorescent imaging when requested.听
