Nicole Baker, a graduate student in Channing Der’s lab, successfully defended her PhD September 20, 2016. Congratulations, Nicole!
Her thesis title was “Evaluating the therapeutic potential of the PAK1 AND TBK1 Kinases in Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma.”
I’m very involved in science communication and would like to always have it be a part of my life.
While a graduate student Nicole founded the ºÚÁÏÍø Science Writing and Communication Club as well as the popular SWAC science blog, The PipettePen, to give real scientists a voice in social media. You can read more about that in an article published earlier this year: Nicole Baker Gives Scientists Voice in Social Media.
For the near future, Nicole plans to stay in the lab to finish a few projects and publish a few manuscripts. In addition to that she’ll release a podcast and a blog about science, then go on to pursue a career in publishing and science communication.
We wish you all the best, Nicole!
