DESCRIPTION:Stephanie Gantz\, PhD \nAssistant Professor of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics \nUniversitiy of Iowa \nTitle of talk:  “Towards a mechanistic understanding of the gating of delta glutamate receptor channels” \nThis seminar will be in 1131 Bioinformatics. \nPlease join us and show support for our seminar speakers! \n(For those unable to attend\, a zoom link is available upon request to Mimi Le.) \nHost: Zoe McElligott \n  \nDr. Gantz is an assistant professor at the University of Iowa doing cutting edge research on a very under explored group of ion channels in the brain the GluD receptors. These receptors are not technically glutamate receptors but were named as such based on homology. Intriguingly\, these receptors promote a tonic excitatory current in neurons. Stephanie is at the forefront of researchers examining these receptors and their role in signaling in neural systems.
