Kittner Family Distinguished Professor & Chair of ºÚÁÏÍø Ophthalmology Donald L. Budenz, M.D., M.P.H., has been named President of the American Glaucoma Society for 2020. The mission of the organization is to maintain and improve the quality of patient care primarily through improvement, exchange and dissemination of information and scientific knowledge pertinent to glaucoma and related diseases.

Dr. Don Budenz, Chair of ºÚÁÏÍø Ophthalmology, recently completed a mission trip to Ghana, West Africa, to examine patients and perform glaucoma surgery. Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. The highest incidence of glaucoma in the world is in West Africa.
