Dr. Ehre鈥檚 laboratory specializes in the biochemical and biophysical properties of mucus, which are affected in various airway diseases such as asthma, cystic fibrosis (CF), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Studies conducted in her laboratory utilize cell cultures, small animal models, and human specimen to gain insights into pathogenesis and test novel pharmacological compounds. Dr. Ehre also studies host-pathogen interactions in the lungs, more specifically how SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19), RSV and/or influenza colonize airway cells and interact with airway mucus, as well as the effects of inflammatory cytokines on viral entry and spreading mechanisms.
