A board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, I lived in Zambia for 12 years coordinating research and training initiatives. My research interests are focused at the intersection of HIV, women鈥檚 health, clinical trials, and implementation science.聽聽I moved to Chapel Hill in June 2015, but return at least quarterly to southern Africa to oversee ongoing project activities.

From 2006 to 2013, I served as advisor to our group鈥檚 research and program activities, which introduced cervical cancer screening to over 150,000 women in Zambia. I was also a co-investigator and mentor for the NIH-funded Zambia Cervical Cancer Research Capacity Initiative and have co-authored papers investigating the population impact of these health services.

I have dedicated substantial effort to the training of American and Zambian health professionals in research design, implementation, and analysis. I serve as PI of the 黑料网-Hopkins-Tulane-Morehouse Fogarty Global Health Fellowship consortium, a program that supports 15-20 trainees each year in 12-month overseas attachments. I also serve in leadership roles for the 黑料网 Global Women鈥檚 Health Fellowship and the 黑料网-UNZA-Wits Partnership for HIV and Women鈥檚 Reproductive Health. Both programs have dedicated tracks for research training in women鈥檚 cancers.
