• Please note: The final application will be submitted via the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) per the Foundation鈥檚 submission requirement.

Submit the following via 听by听11:59PM, Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

With this application you must include the following and should be no more than 5 single spaced pages, 陆 inch margins and 11pt or greater font. The 5 pages does not include the bibliography, cv, budget and 3 letters of recommendation.听

2. Summary of the research听
3. Introduction, importance of the project, methods and likely presentation results.听
4. One-half page on the background of the applicant and the special characteristics that he/she has for implementing the project and career plan.听
5. Bibliography听
6. A CV in NIH format听
7. A budget in G.300 R&R Format (aka: SF 424 R&R Budget).听 Please be certain to include budget justification听
8. Three letters of recommendation are preferred. If letters are not prepared prior to the internal deadline, please provide the names of three referees.听
9. Names of three internal (to 黑料网) experts who could speak knowledgeably about your research as part of an internal review panel,听in the event of an internal review. 听

• • Please do not include the names of faculty named on the project, chairs, deans, directors, direct reports or others who have a conflict of interest.听

• • Please notify all potential internal reviewers and check their availability before submitting the听application听packet to ORD.听听

Award Information

Funding Amount: The medical school, research institute or academic hospital appointing the scholar will be awarded $200,000 annually for two years to cover their salary, lab costs, and related expenses.听 Under certain circumstances, the awardee may transfer funding to support their faculty position.听 Indirect cost of up to 15% of direct costs, may be included in the $200,000.听 All applicants are required to provide 75% effort.听

Program Description

These awards are given as a transitional post-doctoral award for recipients to enable their advance to a full-time faculty member at the Assistant Professor level or higher and/or to assist in the development of a laboratory program that would lead to independent funding. Scholars will be chosen on the basis of the success in their prior post-doctoral work as well as in the importance and creativity of their continued work.听The Foundation will select recipients for awards using an objective and nondiscriminatory selection process based upon criteria including a review of each applicant鈥檚 scholastic achievements, academic records, scientific proposal and submitted letters of recommendation.

Eligibility

The Warren Alpert Distinguished Scholars program will support individual scientists of exceptional creativity who have an MD or PhD degree (or both) and who have completed a minimum of three years of a post-doctoral fellowship by July 1, 2021, in the field of听neurosciences and hold a post-doctoral research position at a United States medical school, research institute or academic hospital.
