In addition to the outstanding state-of-the-art care provided to patients within the Neuroscience ICU, ºÚÁÏÍø Neurosurgery is proud to be associated with the <a class=\"external-link\" href=\"http:\/\/nccsir.unc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew Gfeller Sport-Related Traumatic Brain Injury Research Center <\/a> at ºÚÁÏÍø.<\/p>\n<p>The Gfeller Center is lead by Dr. Kevin M. Guskiewicz. Dr. Guskiewicz is a 2011 MacArthur Fellow and an internationally known expert in sport-related head injury. He and his team have made ºÚÁÏÍø one of the key centers in the country for sport-related head injury and concussion. In addition, ºÚÁÏÍø plays a prominent role in the treatment of retired athletes being followed for long-term effects of head injury.
