2021 Highlights
Despite COVID-19, 2021 was a busy year for the department. Here are some of our accomplishments:
- Added 10 new faculty members and 2 APPs
- Launched two new divisions – Neuro-oncology and Precision Neurology / Neurogenetics
- Relocated the Adult Neurology Clinic to a new space in Meadowmont
- Published research on over 20 neurological diseases
- Received over 30 awards and honors by our faculty, staff and residents
- Faculty, residents and staff gave over 65 oral and posters presentations
- Promoted 5 faculty members
- Launched the NIH-funded Duke- Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center
- Received “High Performing” recognition for the Comprehensive Stroke Center. In addition, the center was re-certified by the Joint Commission.
- Received designation from GBS\CIDP Foundation as a Center of Excellence for Guillain-Barre syndrome and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy
- Formed the Epilepsy Neurogenetics Initiative
- Formed a pediatric clinic for Tourette Syndrome and Tic Disorders
- Began offering ambulatory e-consults to referring providers
