Kathleen Smith, MD
About
Kathleen graduated from UVA with degrees in History and Political Science. After college, Kathleen worked for Teach for America AmeriCorps in Texas for two years before deciding to apply to medical school. As a medical student, Kathleen has served as the Academic Resource Chair for the Learning Community, an ambassador with the admissions committee, and co-vice president for the Oncology student interest group. She has an interest in Oncology and has participated in research focused on determining whether distance from the cancer center affects outcomes for patients with acute leukemia. In addition, she has served on the Markey Cancer Center Patient Advisory Group as a student representative. In recognition of her outstanding commitment to patient care, Kathleen was selected by her peers for induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
