What is your clinical expertise?
Hypertension and management of patients with chronic kidney disease. I am a certified hypertension specialist.
Tell us about your current role in the Department of Medicine.
I have been on faculty with the Department of Nephrology since November 2011. Currently, I see patients with kidney disease and hypertension at the ºÚÁÏÍø Kidney Center’s satellite office in Burlington, NC. I also provide care to patients on dialysis in Alamance County. Here at ºÚÁÏÍø, I see patients with difficult to manage and/or complicated hypertension at the Hypertension Clinic which is now located at the ºÚÁÏÍø Heart and Vascular Clinic at Meadowmont. Lastly, I am involved in teaching medical students and residency/fellowship trainees with a focus on management of hypertension.
What current project or initiative at ºÚÁÏÍø are you involved in that you are excited about?
I have been working with my colleagues in nephrology, cardiology and the school of pharmacy to help create a multidisciplinary hypertension clinic. This new hypertension clinic opened up at Meadowmont in the Summer of 2015. With the help of a clinic dietician, on-site pharmacist and dedicated nursing staff, we provide comprehensive care to patients with difficult to manage and/or complicated hypertension. I am honored to be of part of this initiative especially as we continue to work on expanding our services to the community.
