I鈥檓 a physician assistant (Advanced Practice Provider) in the Oncology/Hematology Infusion Clinic
Where are you from?
Originally downstate New York 鈥� near Manhattan, but have lived up, down and all around NY/NJ for years.
Did you always envision yourself as an APP?
Nope, as a child I wanted to be a Veterinarian
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Connecting with patients, feeling that I was able to help them in some way.
How has your role evolved over time since you鈥檝e been here?
In a few ways, but difficult to articulate.
What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job?
Particularly, working in Infusion; it is difficult to work with the full spectrum of all oncology patients. I am constantly reading and learning. I feel like I never know everything there is to know.
Personally or professionally, what are you most proud of?
All of my overcoming of major life events. And of course, my children.
If you didn鈥檛 have a career in medicine, what would you be doing?
Probably a professional pet photographer. I think it would be fun to be surrounded by puppies and kittens all day. They鈥檙e just pure, positive energy.
What hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?
I love working out (Spin class, pilates, HIIT, yoga), meditating, being outside, doing arts & crafts with the kids, traveling
If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
That鈥檚 tough. I鈥檓 a sucker for Asian foods
What is the best advice you鈥檝e ever received?
鈥渨ords don鈥檛 teach, actions teach鈥� and 鈥漌hen its hard, it matters the most鈥�
What do you hope to accomplish in the next year?
Attending at least 2 medical conferences
