On the same day across the state, Gov. Roy Cooper signaled he will take action expanding access to a potentially lifesaving treatment designed to keep people out of the hospital in the first place.
鈥淲e鈥檝e been beating the drum for months now, since November of last year, that we do have a treatment,鈥� said 聽David Wohl, MD, professor medicine in the division of infectious diseases. 鈥淵ou have to jump through some hoops; it鈥檚 infused so we鈥檝e got to get you an appointment, got to get you a chair in an infusion center and get this stuff into your body as soon as possible for it to work, but we鈥檝e done it.鈥�
