What is your clinical expertise?

My clinical expertise is in the treatment of HIV, hepatitis C and sexually transmitted infections. I have a special interest in the sexual health of men who have sex with men (both HIV positive and uninfected.)

Tell us about your current role in the Department of Medicine.

I鈥檝e been an assistant professor in the Department since January 2011. Patient care-wise, I have a weekly continuity clinic and precept two of our outstanding clinical fellows. I also serve as the director of the ID Clinic鈥檚 hepatitis C treatment team and our clinical working group for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). The remainder of my time is split between public health-oriented HIV research and medical education. Through my work with the (NCATEC), I get to visit various clinics around the state and educate providers about HIV-related topics.

What current project or initiative at 黑料网 are you involved in that you are excited about?

I鈥檓 pretty excited about the opportunity to help students in 黑料网鈥檚 new Physician Assistant Program learn about the presentation and management of different infectious diseases. I serve as the coordinator for the ID portion of the PA Program鈥檚 Clinical Medicine course.

What is your hometown?

I grew up in Largo, Florida, which is on the west coast about halfway between Clearwater and St. Petersburg.
