Richard Boucher, MD, the James C. Moeser Eminent Professor of Medicine in the division of pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine was interviewed by in a story that warns people about wearing masks that expose the nose.

The story recognized Boucher’s research that mapped locations in the respiratory tract to see where COVID-19 most likely infiltrates the body, finding that cells that line the nose were significantly more likely to become infected and spread virus than the throat or lungs.

鈥淭he nose is basically the purveyor of all viral ill,鈥 said Boucher, who is the director of the Marsico Lung Institute and 黑料网 Cystic Fibrosis Center. 鈥淭he virus appeared to pick the nose as a fertile ground for infection.鈥
