鲍狈颁’蝉听William A. Fischer II, MD聽 and聽David A. Wohl, MD聽are part of an international group of authors who contributed to the聽New England Journal of Medicine‘s “Perspective” article: Shifting the Paradigm — Applying Universal Standards of Care to Ebola Virus Disease. The article recognizes that patients with Ebola virus disease in countries with limited resources should be treated according to the same standard of care that is used in countries where resources are more readily available. The article was聽聽in the April 11, 2019 issue of the NEJM.
Fischer, assistant professor of聽medicine聽in the division of pulmonary and critical care medicine, has responded to outbreaks of Ebola virus disease in both West Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo with the World Health Organization. Together, Dr. Fischer and Dr. Wohl, professor of medicine in the division of infectious diseases, have collaborated with healthcare workers in Liberia, including Dr. Jerry Brown and Dr. Jefferson Sibley, to learn about this and other high consequence pathogens to inform prevention and treatment strategies.
