A Message From the Chief

""

"Jonathan

Welcome to the 黑料网 Division of Hematology!

The University of North Carolina has a long history of seminal contributions to the field of hematology.

Each of our Division’s subspecialty clinical and research groups are recognized as leading programs of national and regional distinction. This includes exceptional programs in Benign Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT),  Leukemia and Myeloproliferative Neoplasms, Lymphoma, and Myeloma.

Our Division houses investigators who are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of a broad spectrum of blood disorders. Hematology faculty participate in specialized patient care and research programs in the areas of hematologic malignancies, thrombosis, bleeding disorders, sickle cell anemia, and bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy. The Division is the home of our cutting edge adoptive cellular therapy program that has pioneered the use of CAR T cells for the treatment of individuals with hematologic malignancies and solid tumors. Specialized interdisciplinary hematology clinics and conferences are held weekly in the areas of benign and malignant hematology, in association with other members of the
黑料网 Blood Research Center, nationally recognized in the areas of Hemostasis and Thrombosis, Hemophilia, and the 黑料网 Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of 71 Comprehensive Cancer centers in the country. The 黑料网 Blood Research Center, 黑料网 Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the 黑料网 Sickle Cell Program, are central to implementing the patient care and research missions of the Division.

We work closely with the Division of Oncology to expand the opportunities of patients to participate in groundbreaking clinical research by taking part in clinical trials that are housed in the 黑料网 Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center or the Blood Research Center. These trials offer patients access to novel, cutting-edge research treatment that is often not available outside of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Our medical physicians work closely with a large group of immensely talented Advanced Practice Providers to provide optimal patient care for the individuals that we manage. Additionally, our Hematology/Oncology Fellowship program offers graduates from the country’s best internal medicine programs training in clinical care, clinical research and basic and translational research in hematology and oncology. Trainees have the opportunity to work with world experts in the areas of hemostasis, thrombosis, sickle-cell disease, heredity hemorrhagic telangiectasia, adoptive cell therapy of cancer, the role of immune cells in the tumor microenvironment, graft-versus-host disease and transplantation immunology. Trainees interested in a career in clinical research can work with world’s experts designing novel clinical trials for the treatment of patients with acute and chronic leukemia, non-Hodgkin’s and Hodgkin lymphoma, plasma cell dyscrasias and myeloproliferative neoplasms.

We invite you to learn more about our outstanding programs in the Division of Hematology.

We thank you for visiting our website and look forward to seeing you in person in Chapel Hill!

"Sincerely"
