Virtual Medicine Grand Rounds – Scott Commins, MD, PhD presenting: “Beyond Red Meat: Tick Bites, Delayed Anaphylaxis and Lessons That Will Impact Your Practice.”

Dr. Scott Commins joined the faculty of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2015 and is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics. He is a member of the ºÚÁÏÍø Food Allergy Initiative and the Thurston Research Center. Dr. Commins maintains an active clinical practice and research program related to the alpha-gal mammalian meat allergy.
Dr. Commins received M.D. / Ph.D. (Biochemistry & Molecular Biology) from the Medical University of South Carolina (Charleston, SC). Following a residency in Internal Medicine, Scott completed a fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at The University of Virginia (Charlottesville, VA). Dr. Commins is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and was a recent member of the Congressionally-appointed Tick-Borne Disease Working Group where he was co-chair of the alpha-gal syndrome subcommittee.
