The Department of Medicine Teammate Council was established in 2024 to create a vibrant and collaborative work environment for our staff. We recognize that we spend a significant amount of time at work, so cultivating a positive culture is essential.

Our initiatives, informed by the ºÚÁÏÍø-wide SHARE Survey, empower us to transform feedback into actionable change. By amplifying the voices of council members across our department’s units, we’re not just enhancing our workplace—we’re building a supportive community where everyone can thrive and enjoy coming to work every day!

The Council & A Blackberry

The lifecycle of a blackberry, from seed to fruit, mirrors our journey as a teammate council. Initially, like seeds, we start with diverse ideas and potential, needing nurturing and collaboration to grow. As we cultivate our relationships and build trust, we bloom into a cohesive unit, much like the blossoming flowers. Finally, when we bear fruit, we share our collective achievements and insights, providing nourishment and support to one another and our larger community. This process emphasizes growth, collaboration, and the importance of each member’s contribution.

Our Subcommittees

The DOM Teammate Council is comprised of three subcommittees, Career Development, Sense of Belonging and Work-Life Balance.

Each team is led by a Chair who organizes logistics and hosts meetings. There are three advisors in each group who oversee initiatives to ensure they are in scope of the department’s objectives. Discussions and strategies are driven by the subcommittee teammembers who work in the department’s divisions and units.
