About

Dr. Ronald Williams was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1950. His family relocated to North Carolina when he was in high school, and after graduation, he chose to stay in-state for college, attending Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. During his time at Davidson, Dr. Williams confronted the challenge of being one of a small handful of Black students and excelled in his courses while finding community and support among the Black community of Davidson. Following his graduation from Davidson, he attended the şÚÁĎÍř where he remembers being strongly influenced by both the academic content taught by his medical school professors as well as the activities associated with the Black student movement on campus. A theme that runs through Dr. William’s career is his passion for providing care to the underserved. Whether it was during his time in the U.S. Public Health Service at the Park Duvalle Community Health Center in Louisville, Kentucky, working in an emergency department in rural North Carolina, or providing care for inmates in a North Carolina correctional facility, Dr. Williams remained committed to a career of service.
