At your visit, your provider will:<\/p>\n
\nConfirm your diagnosis and that appropriate treatment has been started.<\/li>\n Make sure that your blood work is up-to-date and any medications you have been prescribed for your blood clot are safe for you.<\/li>\n Check other medications you are on and ensure drug interactions are checked.<\/li>\n Help with more complex situations such as patients who also have cancer, blood disorders, history of certain surgeries or conditions, and more.<\/li>\n Ensure you have access to your medications including financial assistance when needed.<\/li>\n Provide education on risks and benefits of medications.<\/li>\n Provide education on hormone therapy and counseling on contraception when relevant.<\/li>\n Discuss what to do for surgeries, procedures, and other situations if you are on an anticoagulant.<\/li>\n Consider additional screening tests that may be recommended.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n \n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

You will most likely see a physician assistant or nurse practitioner at your appointment, who will work with a supervising physician. A medical assistant and pharmacist will also help with your visit and any questions that come up regarding the appointment or medications.<\/p>\n
