Admissions Requirements & Application Information
Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Science Program Prerequisites
(for students who matriculated to the University in or after fall 2022)
Students must complete all First-Year Foundation requirements, all Reflection and Integration requirements and complete six Focus Capacity requirements. Please visit the website for specific information regarding the general education course requirements.
Campus Life Experiences (CLEs) must be completed while in the program.
Under Reflection and Integration requirements – The Research and Discovery, Communication Beyond Carolina may be approved to cover these requirements and the High-Impact Experience requirement is satisfied through the Radiologic Science clinical courses.
Students will only be allowed to complete the LFIT or one semester of foreign language during the program. ALL other general education requirements must be completed before entering the program. Students may apply while completing program and general education requirements.
Additionally, the following math/science courses are required for the degree:
MATH/SCIENCE COURSES REQUIRED FOR THE RADIOLOGIC SCIENCE MAJOR
- MATH 130 or MATH 131 – Trigonometry/pre-calculus or calculus
- BIOL 101/L – General biology and laboratory
- BIO 252/L – Human Anatomy and Physiology and laboratory (must include all body systems)
- CHEM 101L/ or BIOC107 – General Chemistry or Biochemistry and laboratory
- PHYS 114/L – General Physics I
- PHYS 115/L – General Physics II
- PSYCH 101 – Introduction to Psychology
*Students may have math/science courses in progress during the application process.
*Students must have the math/science requirements completed prior to beginning the program in the Summer Session Two. Students may complete only ONE of the prerequisite courses in Summer Session One prior to beginning the program in Summer Session Two. Final admissions decision will be based on successful completion of the course and maintaining the required GPA.
The degree will be awarded only when all degree requirements (math/science and general education) are met.

Application Process
Completion of all general education and math/science prerequisites before the beginning of the program in Summer Session Two.Ìý (See exceptions above)
Minimum overall GPA of 2.8 and required math/science courses GPA of 2.5.
All students will be required to submit two references during the application process and a personal statement.
Students selected as qualified applicants by academic record and admissions information will be required to complete oral and written interviews. The interviews cover topics relative to the applicant’s admissions information, radiologic science, health care, and personal goals.
Admission Criteria for 2025 – 2026
Students are admitted on a points basis. Points are earned through the following application requirements:
- Math/science GPA – 20 points
- Overall GPA – 30 points
- Academic Promise – up to 5 points (based on significant change in GPA between first and second year of college; extraordinary circumstances that affected first-year courses)
- Personal Statement – 20 points
- Written Interviews – 15 points
- Oral Interviews – 10 points
**Completion of math/science prerequisites at the time of application – ÌýStudents with all or 6 out of the 7 required courses will be more competitive for admissions. If students have the same number of admissions points, but one has completed more math/science courses, the applicant with more completed courses would be admitted.

Click the button above and log in to the ConnectCarolina Student Center. In the “other academic” dropdown, select “Apply for Change of Major” and select Radiologic Science. Once you complete and submit this request, you will receive an email with instructions for completing your application.
Transfer Students:
Application InformationYou must apply to ºÚÁÏÍø and to the RADI program through the Undergraduate Admissions by the transfer deadline listed on the website. When you indicate that you are applying to the RADI program, you should also get the RADI–specific application and questions.
The B.S. in Radiologic Science program does not award credit for radiography or sonography courses or clinical experience completed at another radiography or sonography program. A student who started a radiography or sonography program elsewhere and who wants to complete the B.S. in Radiologic Science program may apply as a transfer student to begin the program. Only students who completed a radiography program or sonography program and passed the certification examinations may apply to ºÚÁÏÍø to complete the BS Degree.
Radiologic Technologists and Medical Sonographers with Certification:
The B.S. in Radiologic Science Program is available to current certified radiologic technologists and medical sonographers who have completed an accredited radiography or sonography program. Application Deadlines
The Division uses three admissions review periods. Eligible students who are not selected during the first admissions review period will be reviewed automatically for admission during subsequent admissions review periods.
Upon submission of a completed application, qualified candidates will be contacted to schedule written and oral interviews.
