Jasper Mark Receives FNNR Pilot!

Congrats to Jasper on receiving a 1-year pilot grant from the Foundation for Neurofeedback & Neuromodulation Research to examine corticomuscular coherence as a source of biofeedback for operant conditioning! This pilot also represents an exciting collaboration with Dr. David Cunningham, PhD at MetroHealth!

Cassidy Plasticity Lab at �� DPT Exploratory Day

The Cassidy Plasticity Lab participated in the �� DPT Exploratory Day this past spring that hosted college students interested in the physical therapy profession. As a way of promoting inclusivity and diversity in the field of physical therapy, many of the participants were first-generation college students and/or from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups in the physical therapy profession. Special thanks to lab member, Jasper Mark, for providing the students with fun EEG demos and lessons on brain network connectivity on a Saturday morning! Congratulations to 3rd year HMSC PhD student, Rachana Gangwani, for representing the Cassidy Plasticity Lab at the American Physical Therapy Association’s Combined Sections Meeting in sunny (or not so sunny) San Diego this past February. Rachana presented original work from our EMBARK study, “Corticomuscular Coherence in Unilateral Cerebral Palsy: A Preliminary Pediatric Biomarker Development Study.” Well done, Rachana!

Cassidy Plasticity Lab “EMBARK” on a new pediatric rehabilitation study

Dr. Cassidy and her research team collaborated with Holly Holland, OTR/L, ATP, C/NDT and Dr. Swati Surkar, PT, PhD this past March to study EEG biomarkers of motor function in children with unilateral cerebral palsy. The EMBARK (EEG in Children with Hemiplegia for Biomarker Development) study is funded by an American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Development Medicine Research Grant via the NIH’s National Pediatric Rehabilitation Resource Center (C-PROGRESS).
