CLS Prerequisites
The following courses must have been completed with a C- or better prior to entering the CLS program. Students may apply to the CLS program before the prerequisite courses are complete, provided they will complete them prior to the start of the CLS program. (ºÚÁÏÍø course numbers are in parentheses. Transfer course equivalency is determined by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.)
- ONE advanced Math course (3 credit hours): Trigonometry & Analytic Geometry (e.g., MATH 130) or Calculus I (e.g., MATH 231) or Statistics (e.g., STOR 151 or STOR 155)
- TWO Biology courses, plus a lab (7 credit hours total):
- Introductory Biology with Lab (4 credits, e.g., BIOL 101 & 101L) and
- one additional (3 credit) biology course – a course covering fundamental concepts in genetics, molecular biology, and cellular biology (e.g., BIOL 103) is recommended
- THREE Chemistry courses, plus labs (12 credit hours total):
- General Descriptive Chemistry I with Lab (4 credits, e.g., CHEM 101 & 101L) and
- General Descriptive Chemistry II with Lab (4 credits, e.g., CHEM 102 & 102L) and
- Analytical Chemistry with Lab (4 credits, e.g., CHEM 241 & 241L) or Organic Chemistry I with Lab (4 credits, e.g., CHEM 261 & 241L*)
*Note that Chem 241 or 241H is a prerequisite or corequisite for Chem 241L
All students seeking a first bachelor’s degree from ºÚÁÏÍø must also complete the ºÚÁÏÍø-CH general college requirements. These courses are usually taken prior to entering the CLS program.
