Welcome to Scott Young, Business Officer, who is assuming the role previously held by Ann Nochlin, who has now moved to a new position with the Clinical Genetics team in the department.

Dr. Pardo Manuel de Villena, Professor and Chair, is the Lead PI on a new R01 award from NIEHS.

Dr. Hector Franco, Assistant Professor of Genetics and Member, Lineberger Cancer Center was awarded one of only four breakthrough grants issued this round from the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program. 

Jesse Raab, PhD (Research Assistant Professor) is the PI on a new Career Development Award from DoD.

Dr. Powell’s research interests are focused on advancing transformative technological solutions to overcome the barriers of big data that have slowed progress toward effective implementation of genomic medicine.

Dr. Hoadley’s research interests are focused on using genomics-based assays and analyses to understand tumor heterogeneity, determine tissue-specific effects of genomic alterations, and develop genomic predictors of response or resistance to therapy.

Karen L. Mohlke, PhD, has been named Associate Chair for Research in the Department of Genetics.
