UNIVERSITY TRACK RESIDENT

Hi! My name is Daniella Ortiz. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA (go Steelers!). While studying neuroscience and Spanish as a pre-med student at University of Pittsburgh, I found a passion for health justice and understanding the disparities that drive health inequity. I traveled to Honduras as part of a sustainable medical partnership between Pitt and a community health network near Tegucigalpa and became even more eager to learn how to advance health equity both locally and globally.

I then moved to Ann Arbor to attend medical school at the University of Michigan. While there, I was involved with projects focusing on diversifying our healthcare workforce. I loved working with our mentorship program partnered with a local Detroit high school and doing research to better understand the gaps not yet being addressed in pipeline programs. I was also deeply engaged with work in the medical student wellness space and helped to launch a new opt-out mental health support program for Michigan medical students.聽I am bringing my passions for healthcare worker wellness and diversification with me to 黑料网!

Family Medicine was the perfect fit for me, as I feel that primary care across the lifespan is an ideal space to advance health equity while making meaningful patient connections. I also have many clinical interests including palliative care and reproductive health, and Family Med (especially at 黑料网) is a specialty with endless open doors for my varied interests.

Outside of medicine I enjoy running and hiking, cooking with my mom, and reading outside.
