Following an extended and highly competitive search, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Amir Barzin has accepted the position of COO, 黑料网 Health Physicians (黑料网HP),聽effective April 28. The role fills the vacancy left by Derek Wildman when he was appointed associate CFO for 黑料网 Health last year.
In this role, Amir will:
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for 黑料网HP.
- Drive operational excellence and ensure financial sustainability.
- Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Oversee physician recruitment and outreach.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to deliver a positive and synchronized patient experience in scheduling and registration.
- Provide oversight of virtual programs.
- Ensure efficient and effective delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
During his time at 黑料网 Health, Amir has held several leadership roles, including:
- Medical Director for Virtual Care Service and Outpatient Access Center
- Lead the way during the pandemic, serving as incident commander for the respiratory diagnostic center, co-leading 黑料网鈥檚 outpatient testing and evaluation solution for symptomatic patients and those needing COVID testing.
- Served as 黑料网-Chapel Hill lead for testing, tracing and COVID care by developing a multi-faceted testing program and mitigation effort program from conception to application that performed over 220,000 COVID-19 tests to enable students and faculty to return safely to campus.
- Medical Director of Family Medicine, where he established an embedded Urgent Care within the practice for extended hours and care for patients without a primary care physician.
A Morehead-Cain Scholar, he earned his BS in Biology (minor in Chemistry) at 黑料网 Chapel Hill. He went on to receive his MS in biomedical science and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Amir returned to his alma mater to complete his residency, serving as Chief Resident in his final year, in family medicine. He is also an associate professor in the department of family medicine.
