Introducing INTERFOLIO
Interfolio is a software tool to streamline collection of documents and workflow for faculty appointments and promotions.
ºÚÁÏÍø is implementing Interfolio’s Review, Promotion and Tenure (RPT) module across campus in phases. Implementation is already in progress within almost all schools on campus, including the School of Dentistry, School of Pharmacy, and Gillings SPH
Implementation
July 2025 – Anticipated School of Medicine launch
- Will initially apply to tenured/tenure-track faculty only
- Will be implemented for Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure (APT) actions that are starting in July 2025
- Any dossiers already in process in July will complete cycle in current system
What does this mean for faculty?
Good news: there will be no changes to the APT process or timeline for faculty!
ºÚÁÏÍø SOM is implementing the Interfolio software platform RPT module to streamline collection of documents and workflow for faculty appointments and promotions. The Office of Human Resources (HR) will be using the Interfolio platform for appointment and promotion dossiers for tenured/tenure-track faculty starting on July 1.
What remains the same?
- The current process that faculty follow for submitting documents to Department/Division HR staff who will assemble and route the dossier to central SOM HR.
- APT guidelines and metrics for faculty advancement.
- Faculty processes for preparation and submission of CVs and other documents.
- Timeline for the dossier to go through the appointment or promotion process.
What will change?
- Our SOM HR leads will import the dossier into Interfolio for routing to review committees.
- Faculty will be able to log in to Interfolio and view the progress of their review and the non-confidential components of their dossier (but not evaluations or letters of recommendation).
