Why Otolaryngology?

Like most, the complex intricacies of head and neck anatomy completely blew my mind and sucked me in early on in medical school. With a mixture of surgical and medical management, a diverse patient population of all ages, and interventions ranging from emergent, life-saving surgeries to preserving quality of life and how our patients engage with the world around them, I came to realize that the breadth and depth of otolaryngology is second to none. What ultimately sold the deal was the people – the hype about ENTs being the happy, supportive, down-to-earth surgeons is real!!!

Why ?

Picking as my top choice to complete my otolaryngology training was immediately apparent to me as soon as I finished my sub-internship here. has world class training with leaders in the field and abundant opportunities for mentorship and research across all the subspecialties. As a visiting medical student, I felt instantly welcomed and supported by the faculty and residents, and that they were genuinely invested in helping me learn and grow into an excellent otolaryngologist one day. It is truly one big family here! The added plus is being within driving distance to my family.

Fun Fact: During the Reputation Tour, I was upgraded to the pit and got to touch Taylor Swift’s hand. I was so star-struck that I forgot to let go of her hand and have on video her saying “OW.” This is my formal apology to her.
