Hypertelorism
by Scott Daniels
Ìý
tonight, i’m in the NICU,
flipping through a book of deformity patterns
some lethal, some not,
well, at least not for a little while.
The most important part for me is seeing,
in the edges of the photos,
obstructing the view that the documentarian wanted to portray,
the tender hands of parents,
the specially fitted clothing,
the curled and combed locks of hair
falling gracefully on “hypertelorism”.
