Speaker: Sara Gianella Weibel, MD
Dr. Sara Gianella Weibel, M.D., is a Professor in Residence at UC San Diego in the Department of Medicine, specializing in Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health.聽Dr. Gianella joined the faculty in 2013 and currently works at the UC San Diego Antiviral Research Center and her laboratory on campus. She directs the Translational Virology Core at the Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) and the AIDS Clinical Trial Group (ACTG) Virology Specialty Laboratory, where she also contributes to clinical trial protocol teams. Her research interests include HIV persistence in tissues, the transmission dynamics of HIV in the genital tract, and the virus’s interactions with co-infecting viruses like Cytomegalovirus.
