Research Interests

We are examining how inhaled pollutants modify respiratory immune and host defense responses. To do so, we are using linked human in vitro and human in vivo experimental models of exposure to woodsmoke, ozone, cigarette smoke, e-cigarette aerosol, and many other air pollutants. Our major goal is to understand mechanisms and modifiers of pollutant-induced respiratory health effects.
