Aziz Sancar, MD, PhD, the Sarah Graham Kenan Distinguished Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics and member of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, published his 400th scientific paper this fall in the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
ճ, entitled “Mycobacteria excises DNA damage in 12- or 13-nucleotide-long oligomers by prokaryotic-type dual incisions and performs transcription-coupled repair,” reveals more intricacies of DNA repair, for which Sancar won the 2015 Nobel Prize for Chemistry.
Co-authors of the paper were long-time collaborators research instructor Christopher Selby, PhD, and associate professor Laura Lindsey-Boltz, PhD, along with research associate Yanyan Yang, PhD.
