At the Society of Pediatric Anesthesiology spring meeting in late March (SPA-AAP Pediatric Anesthesiology 2025), ºÚÁÏÍø Anesthesiology came out strong in leadership, scholarly distinction, and overall current and alumni attendance!

LEADERSHIP

  • 2024-2025 SPA President: Dr. Peggy McNaull (ºÚÁÏÍø Health Chief Medical and Quality Officer)
  • SPA Board of Directors: Dr. Concetta (“Chetta”) Lupa
  • SPA Poster Moderator: Dr. Joseph Sisk

SCHOLARLY PRESENTATIONS

  • Main Podium Presentation: Dr. Hemanth Baboolal (Pediatric Renal Transplant)
  • Research Posters: 11 ºÚÁÏÍø Anesthesiology faculty members, 2 Fellows (Pediatric Anesthesia), 3 Residents, 2 faculty-mentored ºÚÁÏÍø medical students
  • Invited presentation: Faculty-mentored CA-2 Quality Improvement Project by Drs. Heidi Heyman & Bryson Shelton (Influenza Vaccination Under Anesthesia). Recognized as a leading pediatric QI project at SPA-AAP Pediatric Anesthesiology 2025 by the Wake Up Safe organization.

ºÚÁÏÍø Pediatric Anesthesiology Division Chief Adam Suchar, MD, noted: “In addition to the many department alums we reconnected with, ºÚÁÏÍø Anesthesiology was represented by 19 current members at this spring’s meeting. As a profound honor for our department, Drs. Heidi Heyman’s and Bryson Shelton’s CA-2 led Resident QI Project program was selected as one of only six resident-led Q.I. projects nationwide selected to be presented. This honor is a testament to the hard work of these two residents, the department’s Resident QI Project program, and the institution!”
