ºÚÁÏÍø Anesthesiology congratulates Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology Lauriane Guichard, MD, for receiving the Junior Faculty Best Clinical Research Abstract Award at the Association of University Anesthesiologists (AUA) Annual Meeting in early March in Boston, MA. Dr. Guichard‘s abstract, entitled “Is Post-Intensive Care Syndrome a Nociplastic Pain Disorder?“, was chosen for this prestigious honor for its merits in highlighting the issues patients may encounter as they recover from post-intensive care syndrome after an intensive care unit (ICU) course.
After obtaining her medical degree at ºÚÁÏÍø – Chapel Hill, Dr. Guichard completed her anesthesiology residency in 2018 at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI). Her multi-disciplinary expertise derives from completing back-to-back fellowships at Duke University Medical Center in Critical Care Medicine (2020) and Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology (2021). As a physician scientist and expert in post-anesthesia critical care recovery, Dr. Guichard’s primary area of interest is in understanding the issues that patients may encounter as they recover from an intensive care unit (ICU) course. Her ongoing study of post-intensive care syndrome focuses on the components, etiology, and mechanisms of this condition that can arise after a patient’s recovery from critical illness and last for years.
